An exploration of Buddhist Ethics
With Dyotana and Dharmakara
We like to think we know the best way to behave in any situation. The trouble is life doesn’t always bear that out, and we can find ourselves regretting our actions and their impact on ourselves and others.
The Buddha showed how attending to our actions in every area of life can lead us to respond more creatively to life’s challenges, rather than reacting in ways that make matters worse.
Over this six-week course we’ll explore the basis of Buddhist ethics – which is not about “being good”. Rather, the focus is on a set of training principles that enable us to flourish and to contribute to the well-being of others, and that give our lives direction.
This course is based on Subhadramati’s book Not About Being Good. You will need a copy in either eBook or paperback format.
An eBook can be purchased from Windhorse Publications: https://www.windhorsepublications.com/product/not-about-being-good-a-practical-guide-to-buddhist-ethics/
We have paperback copies available to purchase at the Buddhist Centre. Pop-in and pick one up if you want to. The Doors are always open on a Wednesday between 12 and 2 pm.
