Introduction to Buddhist Meditation:
The Mindfulness of Breathing
4-week course suitable for beginners.
Starts Tuesday 29 October
7:30 pm – 9:30 pm
Tired of doom-scrolling, anxiety, and FOMO? Always rushing from one thing to another? Take a break from the news, technology and the rat race, and discover the calm and spaciousness that is always available when we stop and explore what it really feels like to simply sit quietly and breathe.
Learn to meditate in a friendly, collaborative and supportive class led by experienced teachers. The Mindfulness of Breathing is one of the fundamental Buddhist meditation practices, in which we are invited to pay close attention to how it feels in the body to breath in and out. It sounds so simple! But we also notice when, and how often, our attention wanders to something “more
interesting”.
On this course we will learn how to sit comfortably, how to engage with the practice, how to avoid some of the pitfalls of “monkey mind”, and how to maintain and deepen our awareness of the
breath.
“What really makes a meditation “Buddhist” is that it helps you find answers to the most basic issues for you as a human being” – Vessantara
